Program Description

Rugged Adventures in the Wild (RAW) is a specialized wilderness program hosted by Camp Can-Aqua. The program was created in response to the incredible growth and positive outcomes we have witnessed when young people step fully into nature.


While RAW is proudly facilitated by Camp Can-Aqua, it operates independently from the traditional summer camp experience. This program does not take place on the main Camp Can-Aqua site. Instead, campers live and learn in a unique backcountry wilderness setting located just 20 minutes from camp.


Over the past five years, we have seen firsthand the confidence, resilience, and independence that emerge when kids simplify life and embrace camping in its purest form. RAW was intentionally designed to lean into that magic.
Program fees include hearty meals, rustic yet comfortable accommodations, experienced leadership staff, and a week of purposeful outdoor living. Days are built around canoeing, campcraft, outdoor cooking, swimming, exploration, and meaningful connection, with each camper contributing to the shared adventure.


RAW is about disconnecting to reconnect.

Camp Activities

Explore a range of activities at Rugged Adventures in the Wild. Each day your group will rotate through a selection of amazing camp activities. Whether it's thrilling water sports, exciting land adventures, or creative crafts, campers enjoy a day filled with variety!

Water Activities

Jump on into our refreshing lake with our wide selection of water activities. From canoeing to paddle boarding, our experienced instructors will guide you through the splashing fun.

Land Activities

Forge your own path in our fun and engaging land adventures. Test your skills in archery, learn survivalist skills, or navigate through our thrilling orienteering courses.

The Arts

Unleash your creativity in our arts program. Express yourself through painting, crafts and nature art. Let your imagination soar in our inspiring artistic environment.

Canoe & Kayak

Kids will learn canoeing and kayaking through interactive lessons with focus on the basics in strokes and other paddle skills. They'll develop paddling and navigation skills, boosting their confidence while having fun with friends.

Archery

Our kids archery program introduces children to the fundamentals of archery. They learn to properly hold a bow, aim, and shoot while enjoying a and supportive environment.

Arts & Crafts

Our basic arts and crafts program for kids uses outdoor materials from our surroundings along with traditional supplies. Children will explore, collect, and create unique art pieces that blend natural and modern art.

Kayak

Kayaking is a great way to explore and get comfortable navigating on your own! Working to teach paddling techniques, safe exits and rolling, once campers develop their skills and are able to roll confidently.

Archery

Our kids archery program introduces children to the fundamentals of archery. They learn to properly hold a bow, aim, and shoot while enjoying a and supportive environment.

Wood Carving

Wood carving at RAW provides an elemental crafting experience, as campers take a piece of lumber and shape it with their vision and growing skills. 

Paddle Boarding

Out stand up paddle boards are an exciting pass time on the lake. A great opportunity for kids to work on balance, coordination and core body strengthening; practice your zen on the lake or join a friend to see who can stand up the longest without falling off!

Sports

From soccer balls to frisbees, to volleyballs to boccee balls, sports play an important role in developing leadership and confidence. Promoting teamwork and exercise, sports at RAW, we are all about FUN!

Guitar

Camp is a perfect place for kids interested in guitar. New campers thrive in the patient and supportive environment that seeks to teach kids the basic needs to play acoustic guitar while more advanced players can be taught those more difficult tunes.
